Introduction
Mrs, a drama film, will be released on OTT ZEE5 on February 7, 2025. The film, directed by Arati Kadav, has a dramatic tone and theme on family and relationships. This film entertains while also conveying a message. Nowadays, daughters-in-law do not want to spend their lives simply being the daughter-in-law of a typical middle-class family; she also has aspirations and desires that she wishes to realize even after marriage and visiting her in-laws’ homes. She does not want to be bound by any bondage and desires freedom. The film looks just like it does in the trailer. It is a Hindi version of the Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen, directed by Jeo Baby and released in 2021. Mrs Hindi movie’s main cast includes Sanya Malhotra, Nishant Dahiya, and Kanwaljit Singh.
Mrs is a film about a lady who recently married and became the daughter-in-law of a typical conservative middle-class family, where her feelings and goals are unimportant. Whatever her spouse and in-laws say is the final word in stone. Warm your husband’s bed at night without his consent, when you don’t even want to, and look after your enjoyment and don’t even concern your wife’s enjoyment. Keep cooking in the kitchen all day and night without making a sound, accepting everything silently, but for how long? Will she continue to tolerate things silently? Will she leave her house? Acting and characters
Sanya Malhotra delivered an excellent performance as Richa. She looked very much like her character, and her acting ability was outstanding. She appears to be interacting with the audience, whether by her dialogue delivery, body language, or facial emotions. Likewise, she has done an excellent job portraying her character’s personality on television. Her acting is consistent in every scene. Her acting not only moved the tale ahead, but it also matched the audience’s emotions. She acted consistently. Nishant Dahiya, who played Diwakar, too delivered an excellent performance. Before Mrs. he appeared in Kedarnath (2018) and 83 (2021). His character and acting can likewise be described as ordinary. His chemistry looked fantastic. There was also consistency in his performance.
Kanwaljit Singh‘s performance as the father-in-law was unremarkable. He acted the same way in every scene. Throughout the film, he is either eating food or cataloging the flaws of the meal. All the other supporting performers, including Varun Badola, Mrinal Kulkarni, and Aparna Ghoshal, delivered strong performances.

Direction
Mrs was directed by Arati Kadav. This is her debut Hindi movie as a filmmaker. She focused the tale around a kitchen, which is shown cooking throughout the film. She was effective in getting good performances from all the performers. Furthermore, she also kept the film’s tone consistent throughout. Not only that, but she was able to keep the story moving forward by cutting the script cleanly. She complemented the background score with some excellent photos.
The pace and structure of the plot are apparent. He also attempted to portray a social concern in the picture. His directing technique appeared innovative, allowing the film to live up to the audience’s emotions and expectations. He filmed some scenes very well, demonstrating his directing ability, such as when Richa is dancing in the kitchen with earphones in her ears and her father-in-law arrives; second, in the film’s climax, she pours the water leaking from the dirty kitchen pot into the glass of Shikanji and vents her anger before leaving the house after pouring the remaining water from the bucket on her husband and father-in-law.
Story-Screenplay-Dialogues
Mrs’s screenplay and dialogue were written by Arati Kadav, Anu Singh Chaudhary, Harman Baweja, and the story is based on Jeo Baby’s Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen. The screenplay and story have kept the audience captivated. The pace of the sequences is also good, and the scenes are well-crafted to sustain the story twist. The language is very remarkable, and the transition from one scene to another is seamless. The screenplay contributes to the character development, and the tale follows expectations.
Editing
Editing of Prerna Sehgal is ideal, which helps the story flow smoothly. The length is also suitable. At no point does the film seem to drag on. The film’s editing makes the tale straightforward and understandable. The editing appears to be entirely consistent with the tone of the film.
Cinematography
Pratham Mehta‘s cinematography is visually appealing, capturing every emotion of the plot on screen. The film’s lighting and color scheme fully support and complement the story’s tone and concept. Some scenes are quite well-framed. The aerial shots are well done. The house’s location and set design are extremely beautifully displayed.

Background score.
Sagar Desai‘s background score is quite good. It fits in well with the mood of the film. A new feeling arises while watching the film. It emphasizes the importance of the tale and scenes.
Sound design
The sound design of Sarit Shekhar Chatterjee for the film appears natural and amazing. The dialogues are fairly clear. It does not disrupt the music or background score. The sound effects also complement the emotional parts of the film.
Costume design
The costumes designed by Karishma Gulati for the story’s characters symbolize their personalities, backgrounds, and stories. Sanya Malhotra’s basic designs for clothes, jewelry, fabric, accessories, and styling looked incredibly unique, as a new daughter-in-law should.
Music
There was little room for music of Sagar Desai, but whatever songs exist are heard in the backdrop of the picture.

Mrs’s conclusion was not very memorable. Something different was expected from the climax. It is unclear whether she divorced or left the relationship, or whether her spouse remarried or not.

Flaws
Some scenes from the movie Mrs have been repeated numerous times; there are many of the same types of scenes, such as scenes of physical relationships, waking up in the morning, cooking in the kitchen, dripping water, and eating food in the same way on the father-in-law’s table. The boy’s family continued finding faults with the new daughter-in-law’s food; whether it was the father-in-law or the husband, a new daughter-in-law was not well received in the new home. When Bua ji arrives, she also points out the mistakes; otherwise, the Bua ji scenes would have been unnecessary. The husband’s family members have been revealed to have a different mentality; when the father-in-law’s brother’s son arrives, he begins counting Shikanji’s errors.
Social message
If you think positively, the daughter-in-law has every right to pursue her aspirations or work, and if you think negatively, the new daughter-in-law will need time to acclimate in the house if the marriage is arranged. Couldn’t the daughter-in-law adjust to her husband and father-in-law? In this sense, the concept of marriage will be damaged if the new daughter-in-law does not make some minor concessions. The first year following marriage is really important. A married pair takes time to adjust; if this trend continues, no girl will be able to adjust to her husband’s home after marriage and will flee to her mother’s house.
