👨🎤 Coolie Acting and Performances
Captivating performances of the Lead Actors in Coolie
Coolie Rajinikanth has delivered an outstanding and impressive performance as Deva. Watching this film, you can’t help but notice that the actor, even at 74, exudes a vitality that’s difficult to ignore. His stunt scenes, dialogue delivery, facial expressions, and body language all reflect a remarkable sense of completeness and continuity in his performance. The whole movie relies heavily on him. He truly resonated with the audience on an emotional level. He absolutely delivered, meeting all the expectations of the audience.
Nagarjuna Akkineni‘s portrayal of Simon is just acceptable His portrayal of a negative character felt quite familiar; I didn’t notice anything fresh or different in her performance. As a film critic, I felt he wasn’t the right fit for the role. Some actors just can’t seem to bring anything unique to roles that have darker elements; they definitely fall into that category.
Soubin Shahir does a fantastic job as Dayal. In contrast to the primitive ones, they have shown extremely violent scenes. In this role, he looks fantastic. He used gray hues to play the part.
In the part of Preeti, Shruti Haasan excels. In certain situations, her performance is excellent. She is, in a sense, the movie’s main character, second only to Rajinikanth.
Supporting Cast Performances
It can be considered that everyone in the supporting roles performed well.
🎬Coolie Director
Coolie Hindi Dubbed comes from the talented hands of Lokesh Kanagaraj, a director who’s made quite a name for himself. He has directed several films, including Aviyal (2016), Maanagaram (2017), Kaithi (2019), Master (2021), Vikram (2022), and Leo (2023), with most of them achieving success. He has made an effort to present the story in a fresh and engaging manner. He nailed the ideal mix of action and thriller, and that’s what sets this film apart.
The theme has been presented in a truly unique manner, incorporating innovative storytelling techniques and unexpected plot twists that enhance the overall viewing experience. The climax really hits hard. The movie grabs your attention right from the start and doesn’t let go until the very last moment. Before the interval, the film feels dull. Numerous scenes are absolutely breathtaking. That’s what gives the film its intrigue. He made an effort to resonate with the feelings and hopes of the crowd, particularly by incorporating relatable themes and emotional moments that reflect their aspirations and struggles. The director has skillfully woven in some suspense throughout the film, sparking curiosity in the audience.
He has masterfully directed several scenes, showcasing his brilliance.
- hostel ka fight wala scene
- Deva aur Simon ke beech ka fight wala scene.
📝Screenplay and Dialogues
Coolie Story
The narrative from Lokesh Kanagaraj and Chandru Ambaihagan may not break new ground, but the way it’s been brought to life on screen adds a fresh twist, making the film both entertaining and vibrant.
Screenplay
Lokesh Kanagaraj and Chandru Ambaihagan’s screenplay has its flaws; certain scenes drag on too long, which detracts from the overall impact of the film. The climax, in particular, feels quite tedious and long.
Dialogues
The dialogues by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Chandru Ambaihagan have been dubbed in Hindi, and while they are well written, they fall short when compared to Bollywood Hindi films. Dubbing South Indian films in Hindi for dialogues might just be the weakest aspect.

🎥Cinematography
Girish Gangadharan’s cinematography really elevates the film, bringing it to a whole new level. Several scenes have been captured beautifully. The film’s tone and theme are beautifully complemented by the use of light and color, enhancing the storytelling experience. The way the scenes are framed and designed is truly captivating and stunning.
💥Action and Visual Effects
Action
Ambariv‘s actions and stunts truly stand out as the film’s biggest selling point, especially the action scene at the hostel, which is shot in an incredibly risky manner. The moment when three girls are captured by goons is truly something to witness. The action sequence leading up to the climax, showcasing the intense fight between Deva and Simon, is absolutely brilliant and impactful, elevating the film to a whole new level.
Visual effects
The visual effects are absolutely stunning and provide a whole new level of experience while enjoying the film.
✂️Editing
Philomin Raj’s editing falls flat; several scenes feel unnecessarily prolonged, dragging the story down at times. A tighter edit would have greatly improved the flow.
💃Choreography
Aside from the one track, Monica, there really isn’t much opportunity for Sandy’s choreography to shine.
🏰Production Design and Art Direction
Production Design
N. Sathish Kumar is the mastermind behind the production design of Coolie. The production design throughout the film maintains a consistent quality, ensuring that the visual tone remains robust.

The art direction by Dharani Gangaputra is truly impressive.

Who is this movie intended for?
Coolie caters to those who appreciate thrilling stunts and action-packed violence in their films.

CBFC
Coolie received an A certificate from the CBFC, marking it as the first Rajinikanth film to earn this rating since Shiva in 1989, and it’s also the first A-rated film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Eventually, the filmmakers included a 25-second graphic card in the final cut. This classic Rajinikanth title card was showcased as a heartfelt tribute to celebrate 50 years of Rajinikanth in cinema, and once more, he submitted it to the CBFC. This time, they altered the visible and audible elements, but the duration remained intact, resulting in a total runtime of 170.22 minutes.
Following his viewing of Coolie, filmmaker Elred Kumar expressed that the film shouldn’t have been assigned an A certificate in India, pointing out that there are other films featuring greater violence that have not received the same rating. Following the film’s release, both trade analysts and viewers raised questions about the certification, speculating it might be linked to the updated CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) standards. Following that, Sun TV Network, the parent company of Sun Pictures, approached the Madras High Court seeking a U/A certificate (parental guidance) in place of an A certificate. He mentioned that the CBFC caught him off guard by awarding the film an A certificate because it “celebrated violence.”
Nonetheless, Sun TV Network was unable to respond to this since the film’s bookings had already begun globally, and they believed it could be recertified after its release. The CBFC stated in the initial court hearing on August 20 that the filmmakers would not alter anything and agreed to the A certificate. If the proposed deduction had been fulfilled, they would have been able to obtain a U/A certificate, which allows for children to view the film with parental guidance.
On August 25, the CBFC stood by its choice to award the film an A certificate. The inquiry committee, which included a CBFC official and four external experts, along with the revising committee, concluded that the violent scenes in the film warranted an A certificate, deeming it appropriate for adults only. The court subsequently dismissed the appeal put forth by Sun TV Network.
🌍Social Message
Do we really need to depict this degree of violence in movies? What can our society possibly take away from a movie packed with such brutal imagery? It’s entertaining, but will the film really succeed by relying on violence and vandalism? In certain moments of the film, the depiction of stabbing is quite explicit, which raises concerns about its impact on younger audiences who may access it easily through OTT platforms.
I see the point about the CBFC granting an A certificate to the film, but let’s be real: in this day and age, every movie hits OTT platforms after its theatrical run, making it super easy for anyone, including those under 18, to watch or download it without any hassle.
What’s the best way to put an end to such films? India is our homeland, not a Western society where violence is seen as just another form of entertainment. In this context, cinema reflects our society, making it crucial for films to avoid violent and barbaric content whenever possible.
